The Brothers of Virginia Pi are proud to be a part of a fraternity
that is blazing a path to creating Balanced leaders through our
Balanced Man Program (BMP). A BMP differs from the traditional
Pledge model in the way that members are brought into the
fraternity. Following the standard rush events, prospects are
given a bid to be in the Fraternity and if they accept they are then
known as a Sigma Brother as opposed to a
pledge. Some say that it is simply a change of word, however
at Virginia Pi we are conscious of the public eye and work very hard
to make sure that a Sigma Brother is not treated with the lack of
Brotherly Love that a pledge would see. Our creed clearly
states that as a Fraternity we believe that "Brotherly Love must be
given in order to be received" and at Virginia Pi we do our best to
up hold the principles of our Dear Old Fraternity.
Sigma Phi
Epsilon at the National Level created the Balanced Man Program in
1992 in order to ensure that their chapters not only remain on
campus and out of trouble with their institutions, but also in order
to help retain members. With the implementation of the BMP
SigEp has seen a higher retention rate in their chapters. The
BMP has also proven itself with higher graduation rates.
